Google gives Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL a 2-year warranty

It has been a little over a week since the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL released and recently Google has been bombarded with complaints regarding the screen on the larger Pixel model. Over the last few days, Google has been investigating these issues and have come to a resolution. According to Mario Queiroz, VP of Product Management for Google, they are "very confident that the Pixel 2 delivers an exceptional smartphone experience." With that said, after hearing the complaints from various users, Google has decided to give both Pixel models a 2-year warranty worldwide. Two big thumbs up for this. On top of the 2-year warranty, Google will be pushing out a software update in the next few wee

Moto Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa

Motorola already has a speaker mod in the form of the JBL Soundboost, but they decided to take it a step further and release a smart speaker mod. In comes the Moto Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa. Amazon Alexa, an extremely successful personal assistant, will be making its way to Moto Z smartphones. With this new Moto Mod, you can take Amazon Alexa on the go. Ask it questions, get Alexa to tell you the weather forecast, get her to go over your calendar, and even have Alexa bring up your music controls. The mod itself sports dimensions of 153.2 x 73.2 x 22.8 mm and weighs 168 g. In addition, the mod has 4 far field microphones and 2 speakers that have a diameter of 27mm a piece. The speaker b

Pixel 2 XL displays are receiving bad reviews, but is it warranted?

The display on the Pixel 2 XL is receiving some heat around the net, but is it deserving? The short answer: yes. With the outrageous price point (my main con), one would expect the device to sport a world class display, but it appears Google may have dropped the ball here. Personally, I don't mind the display. It's not as vibrant and saturated as the displays found on Samsung handsets. This is shocking considering that LG made the handset for Google and the displays found on LG devices have been top notch. Google has heard some of the complaints regarding the screen and made a statement to 9to5Google: "We designed the Pixel 2 to take advantage of multiple facets of the innovative new POLED t

Say hello to the ZTE Axon M, a foldable phone with two screens

We have seen phones that have had secondary screens like on the Galaxy Note Edge, LG V10 and V20, but not a phone that truly has dual-displays. We have also never seen a mainstream phone that folds in half. Enter the new ZTE Axon M. DISPLAY AND PROCESSOR Foldable phones are officially here! While not exactly a foldable screen, the newly announced ZTE Axon M offers two full-sized 5.2-inch Gorilla Glass 5 FHD displays that are separated by a hinge that allows the device to fold. Both displays have an identical resolution of 1080p and 426 ppi (pixels-per-inch). The ZTE Axon M has a dated 2.15 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB of RAM and has Android Nougat 7.1.2 on board. Even

Google Pixel Buds are an Apple Airpods competitor with a better design and the ability to translate

Recently, I told you about the Google Home Max, which is Google's new high-end smart speaker. Today is about the Google Pixel Buds, a product that intrigues me the most out of their new accessory lineup. The idea of Google Assistant built into wireless buds has me excited. With the Pixel Buds, Google promises high-quality audio, a comfortable fit, and a stylish design. Similar to the touch panel on the Google Home, the Pixel Buds also has one-touch control. You can tap the buds to play or pause audio content or swipe to adjust the volume. Extremely easy. As I previously mentioned, the Pixel Buds have Google Assistant built-in. To access this feature is also very simple. Simply touch and hold

Google Home Max is Google's new premier smart speaker

Yesterday was a busy day for Google. Not only did they announce their new Pixel phones, they also unveiled a slew of new products. One of those products was the Google Home Max; a bigger and better smart speaker that amplifies the best of Google Home. The Google Home Max looks like a modern speaker that packs some powerful sound. Stuffed with dual 4.5-inch woofers, Google promises deep and balanced bass and claims the Home Max is 20 times louder than the original Google Home. Combine this with Google Assistant and a friendly design, the Home Max might just be the smart speaker to beat. Google also introduced a feature called Smart Sound. This feature, in simple terms, adapts to its surroundi

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL officially announced

Google's 'Made by Google' 2017 event has officially come and go. Based on the leaks the last few months, nothing really came as a big surprise. The leaks were actually extremely accurate, but now that phones are official, it's time to go over everything. Unlike other companies (I'm looking at you Apple), Google incorporated the same features in both devices so you're not missing out on a feature or two by going with the smaller model. The only difference is obviously the screen size and battery capacity. DISPLAY, PROCESSOR, DIMENSIONS The Pixel 2 will be the smaller of the two and have a 5-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) AMOLED Always-on display at 441ppi (pixels-per-inch). On the Pixel 2 XL, there i

LG V30 coming to US carriers starting October 5th

About a month ago, LG took that wraps off of their highly anticipated third generation 'V' series smartphone, the LG V30. I was actually able to play with the device and I have to admit, I was very impressed. The V30 is their most visually stunning smartphone to date and overall, is just an outstanding smartphone. This is what to expect heading into the handset's release: DISPLAY AND PROCESSOR The LG V30 has a gorgeous 6-inch P-OLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2880 and 537 ppi (pixels-per-inch). Weighing in at 158 g, the dimensions are 151.7 x 75.4 x 7.4 mm (5.97 x 2.97 x 0.29 in). It also has an 18:9 aspect ratio and is HDR 10 compliant. The device itself looks like a wider and bett

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL pictures leak ahead of announcement

The always reliable Evan Blass (@EVLEAKS) of VentureBeat is at it again. This time, bringing us leaked official images of the upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL devices just days ahead of the announcement. These images fall in line with previous leaked photos that we have seen over the last few months. The Pixel 2 will be the smaller of the two handsets and will sport a similar design as last years' model, while the Pixel 2 XL will join the thin bezel revolution. This time around, Google is not wasting all that bezel. This year, they are using that space to incorporate front-facing speakers, which is a very welcomed addition. Even with a much thinner bezel on the Pixel 2 XL, Google still includ
