Samsung Voluntarily Recalls Note 7
Ouch. In a voluntary move that will surely impact their mobile business, Samsung has made a worldwide recall on the Galaxy Note 7 amidst recent battery concerns. According to Samsung, there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and that they have conducted an investigation that proved there is a battery cell issue. This is all stemming from reports of the phone catching fire or exploding while being charged.
With Apple expected to make an announcement to introduce the new iPhone next week, the timing could not be worse for the Korean tech giant. They announced and released the Note 7 in August to capture or steal any buzz that the new iPhone would generate.
For customers safety, Samsung and mobile carriers have halted sales and are accepting returns or exchanges due to this unfortunate circumstance. Current Galaxy Note 7 owners will have their device replaced, by Samsung, in the coming weeks with a new one. Please check with your specific carriers to find out all return/exchange information.
