ASUS Zenfone AR to be exclusively sold by Verizon

During CES 2017, ASUS introduced the ASUS Zenfone AR, which is the world's first smartphone to be equipped with a whopping 8GB of RAM. It also is the first device to have both Google Tango and Daydream VR support. Having been introduced months ago and with very little news since, we finally have some word on the release of the smartphone. Yesterday, ASUS announced that Verizon Wireless will be the exclusive carrier of the Zenfone AR in the United States.

According to an ASUS press release, the Verizon version of the device will only come with 6GB of RAM. However, that is still more RAM than any other phone in Verizon's lineup. The rest of the specs are on par with what was officially announced.

The Zenfone AR will have a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, an Adreno 530 GPU, a 23-megapixel main camera and a 8-megapixel front-facing snapper with a f/2.0 aperture. Additionally, it will have a 3300 mAh battery and 128GB of internal storage that can be expanded via microSD up to 2TB.

Big red will make the Zenfone AR available sometime this summer (maybe August 15th, as indicated by the picture). No word yet on pricing.
