LG V30 coming to US carriers starting October 5th
About a month ago, LG took that wraps off of their highly anticipated third generation 'V' series smartphone, the LG V30. I was actually able to play with the device and I have to admit, I was very impressed. The V30 is their most visually stunning smartphone to date and overall, is just an outstanding smartphone. This is what to expect heading into the handset's release:
DISPLAY AND PROCESSOR
The LG V30 has a gorgeous 6-inch P-OLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2880 and 537 ppi (pixels-per-inch). Weighing in at 158 g, the dimensions are 151.7 x 75.4 x 7.4 mm (5.97 x 2.97 x 0.29 in). It also has an 18:9 aspect ratio and is HDR 10 compliant. The device itself looks like a wider and better built Samsung Galaxy S8, except it has a better placement for the fingerprint sensor (centered and below the camera). There is also a headphone jack on top of the device.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa-core processor (4x2.35GHz Kryo 280 & 4x1.9GHz Kryo 280), with an Adreno 540 GPU, and 4GB of RAM makes the LG V30 a very snappy phone that can handle any task. It will also come preloaded with Android Nougat 7.1.2.
CAMERA AND BATTERY
This is where LG will make its money -- the camera. The LG V30 is the first smartphone to sport a f/1.6 aperture with its main camera, which will allow it to take sensational shots in low light settings. On top of that, its rear dual camera configuration has a 16-megapixel main camera (with that f/1.6 aperture) and a secondary 13-megapixel wide-angle snapper that has a smaller f/1.9 aperture. On the front, a 5-megapixel camera with handle all of your selfie needs.
To keep the V30 powered throughout the day, LG incorporated a 3,300 mAh battery that supports Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 fast charging. In addition, the handset can also be charged wirelessly and it has a USB Type-C port.
- Amazing Camera
- Gorgeous Screen
- Wireless charging capable
- Expandable memory
- IP68 Water and dust-resistant
- Headphone jack
- Beautiful design, but too Samsung-esque
