AT&T pulls out of deal to sell Huawei smartphones

Well, this is an unpleasant surprise. A day away from Huawei's CES 2018 event, the nation's second largest carrier, AT&T, decided to pull out of a deal with the Chinese manufacturer to sell their smartphones.

It was previously reported that AT&T would begin selling the Mate 10 smartphone beginning in February, however, the carrier pulled out of the deal, at the last second, for reasons that are still unknown.

The world's third largest smartphone manufacturer is expected to announce the new Mate 10 Pro tomorrow at CES 2018, but this latest news might overshadow the announcement. Without the backing of a US carrier, it will be extremely difficult for Huawei to put their smartphones in the hands of U.S. consumers.

No matter, Huawei is still somehow making it's way to the United States. There's a good chance that Huawei could sell their devices unlocked for GSM (Global System for Mobile) carriers, but there's still always a possibility that another carrier could pounce at this new opportunity to sell these devices and why not? These devices are immensely popular overseas so it may be worth a try.
