Samsung Galaxy S9 retail box leak shows device specs
As we inch closer to Samsung's Galaxy S9 announcement, rumors and leaks just keep coming. The latest leak is of the retail box that shows some of the specs that is expected in the handset. On top of the specs, the box shows some features to expect. Let's break it down.
According to the alleged photo of the retail box that was discovered on Reddit, the Galaxy S9 will have a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ super AMOLED display (5.6-inch if you take into account the rounded corners), 64GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM. The handset will also have stereo speakers tuned by AKG, an iris scanner, and an IP68 rating making it dust and water-resistant.
In addition, the device will have a "Super Speed Dual Pixel" 12-megapixel camera with OIS (optical image stabilization) and have an aperture of f/1.5 and f/2.4. There will also be an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the front. The box also lists "Super Slow-mo," which sounds like it could compete with the Sony Xperia XZ Premium's 960 FPS (frames per second) slow-mo mode.
Lastly, the Galaxy S9 will be equipped to handle wireless charging (charger sold separately) and will come with earphones that are tuned by AKG. If the box in the picture is the real deal, the Galaxy S9 is going to be a pretty impressive device.
Samsung President, DJ Koh, announced yesterday that the company will reveal the device in February at MWC (Mobile World Congress). After seeing these leaks, February can't come soon enough.
