OnePlus 6 is now official
Over the past few months, we've seen many leaks and rumors regarding the next flagship for OnePlus. Today, a lot of those rumors and leaks were officially confirmed as the company has finally announced the OnePlus 6 at their event in London. Let's dive in and see what the new flagship killer has in store.
DISPLAY, DIMENSIONS AND PROCESSOR
As expected, the OnePlus 6 will sport the highly controversial notch on top of the device, but the positive is that it's smaller than what is seen on the iPhone X. The flagship killer will have a 6.28-inch Optic AMOLED display with a 2280 x 1080 resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio (aspect ratio is the relationship between the height and width of a rectangular display).
With dimensions of 155.7x75.4x7.75 mm and a weight of 177g (6.2 ounces), the handset is one of the biggest the company has produced. In addition, the OnePlus 6 has glass front and back panels to give the device a premium look and feel..
As with all 2018 flagships, the OnePlus 6 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 (Octa-core 2.8GHz) processor. Additionally, an Adreno 630 is on board (provides 30% faster graphics rendering) with the latest Oxygen OS (a custom version of Android Oreo 8.1 pre-installed.)
BATTERY AND CAMERA
Qualcomm's latest chipset is supposed to consume up to 30% less power. Combine that with a 3300 mAh battery plus fast charging and you should see some pretty solid battery life. Unfortunately. the new handset does not support wireless charging.
Just like it's predecessor, the OnePlus 6 will pack dual rear cameras. The 16-megapixel main camera uses a Sony IMX 519 lens, has OIS+EIS (optical image stabilization and electronic image stabilization), and a f/1.7 aperture. The secondary 20-megapixel camera uses a Sony IMX 519 sensor and has a f/1.7 aperture.
OIS - Optical image stabilization is incorporated in the OnePlus 6. This will help stabilize pictures and videos by reducing blur that is associated with shakiness of the camera. This feature will help the users who do not have the most steady of hands.
Super Slow-mo - Not as "super" as the modes found on Sony and Samsung flagships (super slow-mo at 960 fps vs 480 fps on OnePlus 6), but you can still add some cool drama to your videos by slowing them down with this feature. Super Slow-Mo is in 1080p at 240 fps (frames per second) and 720p at 480 fps.
Water-resistant - OnePlus claims the device is water-resistant and can handle some rain, but you should avoid submersion. The handset does not have an official IP rating.
Face Unlock - Using the front-facing camera, you can unlock the device with your face.
Portrait Mode - This feature blurs out that background to keep the main object in focus. This is otherwise known as a bokeh effect. The mode will not be available at launch and will be added OTA (over-the-air) update shortly after the device is released.
