Sony Xperia XZ3 could feature a 48-megapixel camera
Yesterday, we got a first look at the upcoming Sony Xperia XZ3 with some rumored specifications. Curiously, one spec was left unknown: the rear camera. In yesterday's leak, it was said that there would be a 13-megapixel front-facing camera, but the megapixel count was left absent for the rear.
Today, we have a leaked screenshot that reveals some specs which includes the rear snapper. The leaked screenshot, which appears to have come from GFXBench, lists the device as having a 47-megapixel rear camera that can record 4K video. Coincidentally, on Monday, Sony announced the new IMX586 image sensor for smartphones that packs a ridiculous 48-megapixels.
It is worth noting that benchmarks are usually slightly different from the official specs. For example, if yesterday's leak is to be believed as official, then the benchmark is again 1-megapixel off from the "official" spec. The leak reported a 13-megapixel front-facing camera as opposed to the benchmark that reveals a 12-megapixel selfie cam.
In addition, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 is listed alongside an Adreno 630 GPU, 64GB of internal storage, and 6GB of RAM. The listing also reveals a 5.7-inch display and confirms my speculation of the Xperia XZ3 being pre-installed with Android 8.0 Oreo contrary to the initial rumor of launching with Android 9.0.
As with all leaks, take this information with a pinch of salt, especially considering this benchmark was not able to be found on the official GFXBench website. The Sony Xperia XZ3 is expected to be announced on August 30th at IFA.
