The Android Report smartphone of the year (2017 edition)

It's that time again. The year is coming to a close and now it's time to look back and choose a phone that stood out from the rest. Last year, it was Google's Pixel XL that took the crown of "The Android Report's Smartphone of the Year," award. Could Google do it again in a year where phones became increasingly more competitive with one another? The answer is yes.

The Google Pixel 2 XL has won The Android Report Smartphone of the year for 2017! Every phone has its issues, the Pixel 2 XL is no exception, but this was another well made product by Google. The software is top-notch and hardware is solid, despite some small hiccups. Not to mention, the Pixel 2 XL sits atop of our Top 5 list heading into the new year.

Google slimmed down the bezels, incorporated front-facing speakers, added water-resistance, improved on battery longevity, and had the highest rated camera for a second straight year. Add a two-year manufacturer warranty, unlimited original quality storage through Google Photos, and being first to get the latest Android OS (operating system) updates and you have yourself one outstanding device.

Hoping they take the Pixel even further in 2018! To all of our readers: Have a happy and healthy New Year!
