Moto Z3 and Z3 Play leaked out with a 5G Moto Mod

January 18, 2018

With Motorola not expected to release another Moto Z smartphone until later this year, it is pretty shocking to see a full leak like this in January. Nevertheless, we have a leak that allegedly shows both the Moto Z3 and Moto Z3 Play.

According to the folks over at Droid-life, both devices will sport a 6-inch FHD+ (full high definition plus) display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Additionally, it appears Motorola will be trimming down the bezels to go all screen in the front.

The Moto Z3 Play appears to have a similar form factor to its predecessors, but the Moto Z3 is shown to have a curved display that looks eerily similar to those found on the Galaxy S8. Other specs are not known at this time, but expect them to be leaked out in the coming months.

What's curious is the white software button on the bottom of the screen. Could this be their new one button navigation? On the recent crop of Moto Z phones, you can swipe the fingerprint sensor in order to navigate through the phone (called one button nav). With this said, maybe Motorola also embedded a fingerprint sensor into the display where the white software button is located?

Droid-life also mentions that Motorola will be releasing a third Moto Z3 device (perhaps, the Moto Z3 Force) that will launch with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and a display with a higher resolution. This falls in line with a leaked roadmap that shows all the devices that will be launched with the latest Snapdragon processor in 2018.

It is also worth mentioning the Moto Mod that is attached to the Moto Z3. "5G" is marked in white letters on the bottom of the mod, which indicates that Motorola could be launching a Moto Mod that would bring 5G network capabilities to a Moto Z phone.

As always, take a healthy dose of salt with leaks. Nothing is confirmed yet by Motorola.
