Press renders of a purple Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ leak out

As we inch closer to Samsung's Galaxy S9/S9+ announcement on February 25th at MWC (Mobile World Congress), the leaks and rumors continue to pile in. In late January, the always reliable Evan Blass (@evleaks on Twitter) of VentureBeat leaked out a press render of the upcoming smartphones. Today, the leaker revealed the smartphones in a new and interesting Lilac Purple color.

It has been rumored that the two devices will be modest upgrades over their predecessors. The handsets are expected to have 5.8-inch (S9) and 6.2-inch (S9+) displays, be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, and have a centralized fingerprint scanner placement.

Additionally and unfortunately, it appears Samsung is taking an Apple-like approach and giving more features and higher specs on the '+' model. The Galaxy S9 will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, while the S9+ will have a memory configuration of 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A dual camera configuration will be featured on the S9+, but only a single camera is expected to be found on the smaller S9.

According to the Unpacked invitation, Samsung is putting a strong emphasis on the camera. Both devices will have a primary 12-megapixel snapper, a 8-megapixel front-facing camera, a mechanism that adjusts the aperture from a f/2.4 to a smallest-in-class f/1.5, and with a new "super slow-mo" feature that records video at 480 fps (frames per second).

Samsung's Unpacked event is a few short weeks away, with a release date rumored to be March 16th. I'm ready for the next Galaxy, are you?
