The Oppo Find X avoids notch design and features pop-up camera
Recently, Chinese smartphone maker OPPO, introduced to the world their new brand new smartphone called the OPPO Find X. This handset certainly raised some eyebrows when the company revealed that it will feature a pop-up camera and a beautiful notch-less design.
DISPLAY, PROCESSOR, AND BATTERY
According to OPPO, the Find X is the world's "first panoramic designed phone." It features a Panoramic Arc screen, a 6.42-inch edge-to-edge display with no notch, a 93.8% screen-to-body ratio, and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
Oppo aims to have the Find X compete with other top-tier handsets by incorporating impressive all-around specs. Under the hood, there's a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and a big 3,750 mAh battery. The handset uses OPPO VOOC Flash Charging system which charges the phone from 0% to 75% in about 30 minutes. It will also come with Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed alongside their ColorOS 5.1 UI (user interface).
Now onto the most interesting part of the Oppo Find X -- it's camera system. When not in the camera app, the camera's on the rear and front are all hidden. There is a motorized mechanism that pops up the cameras when the camera application is launched or when using facial recognition to unlock the device. This mechanism has gone through durability tests and has slid out successfully 300,000+ times.
The rear dual-camera configuration consists of a primary 16-megapixel sensor alongside a 20-megapixel secondary shooter. Obviously, the rear cameras will work together to create bokeh effects for portrait photos. In addition, OIS (optical image stabilization) is included.
Turning over to the front, a 25-megapixel Stealth 3D Camera resides and offers 3D Face Recognition to unlock the device. The 3D camera is also AI-enhanced which will analyze facial features such as face, nose, and eyes.
3D Facial Recognition - Similar to that of the iPhone X, the Find X uses 3D facial recognition technology to unlock your phone.
3D Omoji - Pretty much identical to Animoji which is found on the iPhone X. 3D Omoji will capture your facial expressions in real time to accurately present you in a fun way.
AI Scene Recognition - This technology can identify 800 scenes to become your "photography technique consultant."
PRICE AND RELEASE DATE
Before you decide to purchase this device, it is worth knowing that despite the beautiful full screen design, top-tier specs, and the pop-up mechanism, the Oppo Find X is still missing some worthy features. It does not have a headphone jack, does not support wireless charging, and is not water-resistant.
Regardless, the Oppo Find X is a high-end device which means it will also come with a high-end price tag. It is expected to be released sometime in August and cost €999 (around $1,100). The device will be sold in the following markets: Asia, Europe, and North America. At this time, it is not known if the August release is for all markets, as different markets could see a different release date. Lastly, it comes in two innovative gradient colors: Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue.
