Leaked CAD renders and 360-video give first look at the Sony Xperia XZ3

July 24, 2018

The very reliable tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer, known as @OnLeaks on Twitter, is at it again. This time providing leaked CAD (computer-aided design) renders and a 360-degree video of the unannounced Sony Xperia XZ3.

As seen in the leaked renders, the Xperia XZ3 is not a big design overhaul from it's predecessor. There are some differences though. The new device appears to have rounded corners and a display that has curved edges. Other than that, the design is is very similar to the Xperia XZ2. It will have a single rear camera coupled with LED flash and laser autofocus. It addition, the rear will also sport a fingerprint scanner and a glass panel.

It is said that the handset is expected to have dimensions of 158.3 x 73.08 x 9.9/10.1 mm, will sport a water-resistant design, and have a 5.7-inch Full HD+ notch-less display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Additionally, it is very likely that the new device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor combined with 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage.

Rumors also indicate that the Xperia XZ3 will have a 3,240 mAh battery that support wireless charging, a 13-megapixel front-facing snapper (rear megapixel count is unknown at this point), and could launch with Android P 9.0. Personally, I don't see the device getting Android P before the next generation of Pixel launches.

The Xperia XZ3 is expected to be unveiled on August 30 at IFA, with a possible September release. It is also rumored to carry a price tag north of $800. As with all leaks and rumors, make sure you have that grain of salt in hand.
