Early last month, a render of the Moto Z3 leaked out that revealed a nearly identical twin of the low-end Moto Z3 Play. Now, it looks like Motorola is finally ready to unveil their next Z-line handset. Exactly a month ago, the company posted a teaser on YouTube showing an animated Chicago skyline indicating that an announcement is coming at 2PM on August 2nd at their headquarters in Chicago.
According to an inside source, Motorola will be announcing the Moto Z3 alongside a 5G mod on August 2nd. The device will be a Verizon exclusive and is said to be the first phone that can be upgraded to 5G, thanks to the new mod. In addition, the source has indicated that the Moto Z3 will in fact be the company's flagship device of 2018, taking the place of the Force edition.
As far as specs go, the source said the handset will boast top-tier specs, but did not go into detail on what they may be. With that being said, it's fair to expect a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, potentially 6GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of internal storage. One thing that can be confirmed is that despite taking the flagship title, it will not have a shatterproof screen like the Force edition models had. The device will be released before the summer comes to an end. No word on price.
