OnePlus 6T is now official; a T-Mobile exclusive that has in-display fingerprint scanner and a great

OnePlus has officially announced the highly anticipated OnePlus 6T, a day ahead of the original October 30th date to avoid being overshadowed by Apple's event. The event confirmed just about all of the leaks and rumors we have heard at this point. Now, it's time to dig in and go over the official announcement of the phone.

The OnePlus 6T has a 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display, the largest on a OnePlus smartphone, with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 and 402 ppi (pixels-per-inch). It does have a notch, however, it's of the waterdrop variety, which is so much nicer than the long rectangular one. The bottom chin was also made smaller. In addition, the handset has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

Dimensions are 157.5 x 74.8 x 8.2 mm and the handset weighs in at 185 g. Unfortunately, the company decided to ax the headphone jack, but did so to include a bigger battery. Despite no official water-resistance rating, OnePlus has said that the device is water-resistant. Let's also not forget the device includes an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Under the hood, you'll find the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Octa-core processor with an Adreno 630 GPU and up to a whopping 8GB of RAM. Pre-loaded is their OxygenOS based version of Android 9.0 Pie.

As mentioned earlier, OnePlus has completely removed the headphone jack in favor of incorporating a larger battery. Compared to the 3300 mAh battery on the OnePlus 6, the new 6T has a larger 3700 mAh battery. Sadly, the company still has not push forward with wireless charging, but at least there's still fast charging (formerly known as dash charging).

On the rear, the OnePlus 6T sports a dual-camera configuration. A 16-megapixel main camera with an f/1.7 aperture is combined with a 20-megapixel secondary snapper with a matching aperture. Additionally, the main camera has both OIS (optical image stabilization) and EIS (electronic image stabilization).Turning to the other side, there's a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with a f/2.0 aperture. The selfie cam does not have OIS, but it does come equipped with EIS.

In-display fingerprint sensor - As what it says, the OnePlus 6T has a fingerprint sensor embedded in the display that can be used to unlock your device.

Face Unlock - Using the front-facing camera, the device will unlock using your face. Knowing OnePlus, expect it to work very fast.

Intelligent Scene Recognition - Camera feature detects what’s in the frame and adjusts the brightness, contrast, saturation, etc to help create the perfect shot.

Nightscape - Another camera mode. This feature uses machine learning to identify dark scenes and then proceed to help make the image clear and vivid.

Studio Lighting - This feature gives you more detailed and higher quality portrait shots.

Super Slo-Mo - Record slow-mo videos at 480 fps (frames per second)

The OnePlus 6T comes in two color variants: Mirror Black and Midnight Black. Pricing is as follows:

  • 6GB of RAM, 128GB storage - $549

  • 8GB of RAM, 128GB storage - $579

  • 8GB of RAM, 256GB storage - $629.

T-Mobile is the exclusive carrier of the OnePlus 6T and the device will be released on November 1st at 9AM EST. The Un-carrier has a special deal that will take $300 off the OnePlus 6T with a trade-in. Lastly, the unlocked version of the OnePlus 6T will work on Verizon and AT&T.
